From 2009 to 2010, a wide range of movies occupied the silver screen! Most of them are comedies, but many of them feature great soundtracks. From rom-coms to dramas and a lot more, the film industry is bustling with fresh and creative ideas.
We’ve compiled this list of some of the best OSTs from that year. We hope you enjoy it!
The Hangover
Who can forget The Hangover? It was a film as fun as online bingo Philippines and pretty funny, too! It has more than twenty (20) songs packed into it, with Kanye, T.I., Flo Rida, The Donnas, and Mickey Avalon as the backdrop for a raunchy and messy Las Vegas vacation.
One standout is El Vez’s rendition of “It’s Now or Never”; we think it’s a swaggering guilty pleasure that one cannot help but dance to. Danzig’s hypnotic “Thirteen” is also a follow-up to the opening track. It’s a sure pleaser for soft rock. The Donnas, an all-female hard rock band, plays Take It Off with a guaranteed ear-piecing experience for listening. A different flavor of the song “Fever” is given by the American punk band.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon
Twilight is one of the more imperfect pop culture joys. And it’s one that has filled the niche for sensitive young men who dislike sunlight and the gloomy misfits of young women who love them. However, if the series has a paramount merit, it has undoubtedly produced indie rock. Jay-Z’s endorsement of Grizzly Bear worked its magic.
New Moon is a more mature sound, leaning into the adult contemporary with indie-friendly royalty. The best, however, is Thom Yorke, with the synth-rock of Hearing Damage and All For The Best. Bon Iver’s Roslyn and Grizzly Bear’s Slow Life are some highlights. The songs are beautiful and lend atmosphere to the movie.
For radio anthems, Meet Me On The Equinox by Death Cab For Cutie is what we can see becoming popular with its bass and chorus. The Killers’ A White Demon Love Song is also pretty good! Lykke Li’s Possibility is also very pretty. However, her work is much better than this fare.
Inception
Hans Zhimmer’s Inception score plied the direction of movie scores while still being so listenable and seamless. Whenever you listen to the Inception score, there’s a straightforward narrative of how the notes are arranged. Epic electronically processed horn is the meat of the soundtrack, with Dream Is Collapsing as the big, epic moment and track in the soundtrack.
I’d usually like a more complete version of a Hans Zimmer soundtrack since some parts sound like they have been cut off. For the sake of continuity, a lot of stuff is out. That’s not the case here in the Inception soundtrack.
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
Lastly, we have Scott Pilgrim vs. the World! The main character is a band musician, so many original songs feature. They’re catchy, large, and genuinely great to listen to! However, the most iconic is Black Sheep, as Brie Larson sings! Not everyone can pull that off.
Wrapping Up
We’ve rounded these up. We think they’re pretty good fare for the period and have held up nicely. Enjoy listening!
