How To Find Motor Oil Near Me

It is easy to find motor oil for your vehicle once you know which type of oil you need. You can take several steps to identify and locate oil to keep your car, sport utility vehicle or truck running smoothly. Find out everything you need to know about the types and viscosity ratings of oil and how to get replacement oil filters that fit along with other parts and tools for a do-it-yourself oil change.

    Check Your Vehicle Manual

The first step towards finding motor oil for your vehicle is to see what the manufacturer recommends. Refer to the owner’s manual or routine maintenance guide that came with your vehicle or look up these documents online. Most manufacturers specify a particular type of oil.

There are three types of motor oil: synthetic, blended and conventional. Synthetic oil costs more and requires less frequent changes. Many vehicle makers recommend using blended or semi-synthetic oil, which lasts longer than conventional oil and contains additives for better performance. Conventional oil is the most affordable type, but has the shortest life.

    Choose the Right Viscosity

Motor oil comes in grades designated by the standard format XW-XX. It is important to get the oil with the right viscosity, whether your vehicle takes 5W-20, 10W-30 or any other grade. You should factor in the manufacturer’s recommendation and the climate where you drive.

The first number is a flow rating at 0 degrees Fahrenheit followed by the letter “W” for winter. The number after the dash is the rating at 212 degrees Fahrenheit to indicate how resistant oil is to thinning at high temperatures. These ratings are as important as part numbers or the size of oil filter wrenches and other tools. You should always look for the right supplies for your vehicle.

    Do an Oil Change Yourself

The leading auto parts retailer makes it easy to find the best oil for your car. If you plan to do an oil change yourself, you can buy a sufficient quantity of oil along with a replacement filter in store or online.

Many drivers also want to know how long does it take to do an oil change? If you are not familiar with the process, it can take up to an hour to change the oil in your vehicle. Skilled do-it-yourselfers can complete an oil change in as little as 30 minutes. When you buy your own oil and parts, changing the oil in your vehicle yourself can end up saving you a significant amount of money over time.

Get the Motor Oil and Parts You Need

When you are getting ready to do an oil change, you should make sure you have enough oil on hand. The oil capacity of most passenger vehicles ranges from four to eight quarts. Refer to the manual or maintenance guide to decide how much oil to buy. You can get all of the motor oil you need at the nearest auto parts store location or shop online for in-store pickup or delivery.
